Companion Care

Companion care is a form of home care offering non-medical services to older adults or people with disabilities. Companion care differs from personal care in that personal care aides (also known as home health aides) may provide the same services as companion care but also help with tasks such as bathing, dressing, and medication management, depending on specific state regulations.

The goal of companion care is primarily emotional support and socialization, although companions may help older adults with a variety of tasks including:

  • Light housekeeping

  • Other household chores such as washing clothing and dishes

  • Running errands such as grocery shopping

  • Planning and scheduling appointments and social activities

  • Transportation to appointments and other activities

  • Preparing meals

  • Socialization and entertainment

  • Communicating with family members and other care team professionals

Dementia Care

A dementia caregiver is a skilled professional trained to recognize the symptoms of dementia. Our caregivers understand, for example, that angry outbursts and agitation are expected outcomes of a dementia condition. Our caregivers understands how to gently calm the person, and provide ongoing, quality care for a senior suffering from dementia. General responsibilities include discreet assistance with the activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing and incontinence. Dementia caregivers also provide various types of additional in-home support.

Your loved one will remain safe and well-cared for under the supervision of dementia caregivers from Monterey Bay Homecare Services. While our dementia services are non-medical in nature, they are comprehensive, and meet the daily care needs of countless seniors living with dementia.

Our companionship services prevent seniors from experiencing the isolation and loneliness that often accompany dementia. We also engage the patient in mentally stimulating games and conversations to help exercise memory functions. Our dementia caregivers build fulfilling, personal relationships with care recipients.

Hospital Sitters

Hospitals can be lonely places and especially so when your loved one is in an unfamiliar environment. Having the comfort of someone to sit at their bedside and care for them can make a huge difference in their recovery process.

The biggest advantage of having a hospital sitter is the peace of mind for the patient and his/her family members. The patient’s health is the sitter’s number one priority and whole focus whereas hospital nurses have to cover a busy floor, working long, tiring shifts.

Hospital Sitter Benefits:

  • Prevent falls

  • Offer companionship

  • Reduce boredom and depression

  • Alert hospital staff in event of emergency

  • Contact family in the case of an emergency or change in conditions

Monterey Bay Homecare Services offers hospital sitting services to help care for your loved one during his/her stay in the hospital. We provide patient sitters that meet hospital qualification requirements to monitor patient activity for safety and assist with daily care under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Skilled Home Care Services

Hospice Care

We provide compassionate care and support for terminally-ill patients and their families in their homes, in nursing homes, and in residential care facilities.

Our phlebotomists meet each patient at the designated service location, home, or office at the scheduled appointment time, perform the specimen collection services and arrange for accurate and timely delivery of the specimens.

Wound Care

Local wound management reduces the risk for infection and maximizes functional and esthetic outcomes. Early wound cleaning is the most important therapy for preventing infection and zoonotic diseases such as rabies.

Catheter Management

All nurses at Monterey Bay Homecare Services are trained and skilled in insertion of the catheter, removal of the catheter and monitoring the patient with a catheter.

Post-op Care

Postoperative care begins immediately after surgery. It lasts for the duration of your hospital stay and may continue after you’ve been discharged.

Diabetes Management

Successful diabetes management significantly improves patient outcomes, decreases remission rates, shortens the hospital length of stay, and is now recognized as a key driver in improving the quality of care while significantly reducing the cost of providing hospital care.
